Pro IT Support started out as a Sole Proprietorship, Barry Murrell Professional IT Support, which started trading in the Port Elizabeth area in April 2012.

Having started out with computers as a High School student in 1981-1983, Barry Murrell has spent most of his life involved in the computer industry in one way or another. This included a 9 year stint in Johannesburg as an Apple Service Technician. Having worked with PC equipment from the days of PC-DOS and MS-DOS through the advent of Windows 3, 3.11 and Windows 95, a major achievement in 1997 was setting up the first Windows 95 PC to work successfully on a Mac network in South Africa.

Upon beginning trading in 2012, the primary focus was providing affordable, quality service to a diverse client base.  Having experience of dealing with businesses of all sizes in Johannesburg, handling networking and setting up of shops and offices formed a large part of the next few years. Thanks to a major client, work was undertaken as far afield as East London, Jeffreys Bay and Queenstown. Diversification into maintaining of CCTV systems and installing of TVs followed. Business continued to grow steadily, and by 2019 had a client base numbering around 200.

During mid-2020 the decision was reached to formalise the business an register as a PTY. With help from our bookkeepers (TidyBooks Accounting) the registration process was undertaken, and on 06/07/2020 PRO IT SUPPORT (Reg 2020/505927/07) came into being.
